HVAC Repair Tips

HVAC repair

Bedrooms in a home are the coldest of all places and also the place where one spends most of their time. A cold bedroom in winters is the most annoying. The home heating system is a work of professional who is duly certified from a HVAC school. The heating contractor has to pass a program before even taking a journeyman license.

HVAC education

In the HVAC training they are first taught to calculate the heating load on a home. Accordingly, they then design the heating system which includes size of furnace, duct size, fan capacity, registers size of flow of air. A heating system is designed as such to keep the home evenly warm with all open registers.

If your home heating system does not keep your home evenly warm, there can be two reasons for the same:

  • The heating system of the concerned heating contractor didn’t pass the test
  • The heating system has been probably broken

Ways to add warmth to your cold bedroom

Heating duct needs to be repaired: sometimes, ducts can get unattached or may get collapsed as in case of flexible ducts. By fixing such ducts, warmth in the room can be multiplied and moreover, it also results in energy savings.

Dumper should be checked: maybe the heating contractor would have put the damper in the heating duct. As a result of this the warm air gets hindered and the room remains cold. Remove the dumper by opening the register cover.

Size of the duct can be increased: when the duct size in the heating system is of less capacity as should be needed in your room, it fails to provide the warmth. In such case, increasing the size of the duct can be a solution.

Duct booster fan should be installed: This fan will not help in producing more heat, but helps in carrying heat to the cold areas. The booster fan should be installed near to the required room and should be wired at the back of furnace fan. This way, the booster fan will start working automatically when the furnace is on.

Consult a HVAC repair company and take care of the heating system before it gets worst!
