Proper maintenance should be performed for the effective functioning of your HVAC system. Just like most homeowners you will be using this unit for most of the year making it the hardest working system in your house. Make sure that your unit is professionally serviced twice a year to keep it running smooth. Filters must be changed for every three months and also don’t forget to trim if any shrubs and bushes which grew around outdoor condenser.

Choosing a system that is too large

Some people believe that bigger the air conditioner better it will cook and heat the room. But this is a blunder; choose your air condition according to the size of the room. If you choose a larger unit you may end up with huge electricity bill and also a less efficient system too.

Closing off extra rooms

Keeping the curtain vents closed, will increase the pressure on the system, which can also result in duct leaks and other mechanical problems. Vents in the rooms should be allowed to be open so that the air can circulate through the rest of the house. By making the vents closed allows your system to work in the short term, but not always.

Thermostat too low is always a wrong idea

Usually many people turn the thermostat down lower than necessary in order to cool the room faster. But doing so will only make your unit to work harder which causes more strain to your system. Never forget that leaving the thermostat low is not going to cool your room quicker.

When you install your HVAC system, make sure you avoid all such mistakes to make your system more durable. Avoiding these common mistakes will ensure that your air conditioner will remain in good condition for many years.
